Some of our customers want to collect the container shelters, tent halls or agricultural halls purchased from us themselves. No problem. The only thing to bear in mind is that in Poland, as well as in other European countries, vehicles with a GVW of more than 3.5 t have to pay additional tolls. That is what this article is about.
When planning a trip to Poland with a vehicle with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of more than 3.5 tonnes, tolls, popularly known as "viaTOLL", are an important aspect to consider. Poland, like many other European countries, has a toll system for heavy goods vehicles to support the financing and maintenance of road infrastructure. In this article, we will discuss what viaTOLL charges are required, how to pay them and how to minimise travel costs.
1 What are viaTOLL tolls?
The viaTOLL tolls are a tolling system for the use of motorways and motorways in Poland by vehicles with a GVW exceeding 3.5 tonnes. The system involves electronic tolls, which means that drivers do not have to stop at toll plazas, making travel quicker and easier.
2 What vehicles are subject to viaTOLL tolls?
The viaTOLL toll applies to vehicles with a GVW of over 3.5 tonnes, including lorries, buses, semi-trailers and other heavy vehicles. Please note that if you arrive in Poland in a passenger car or light vehicle with a GVW of less than 3.5 tonnes but towing a trailer where the total GVW of the vehicle combination exceeds 3.5 tonnes, you will be subject to the toll.
3 What are the types of viaTOLL charges
The viaTOLL tolls are charged on the basis of several criteria, such as vehicle class, distance travelled and type of road (motorway or motorway). It is therefore important to know the vehicle category and the planned route.
4 How do I pay viaTOLL?
There are different ways to pay for viaTOLL tolls:
(a) OBU (On-Board Unit): This is a vehicle-mounted device that automatically records the toll road sections driven and debits the driver's account. The OBU can be rented or purchased from the viaTOLL service provider.
b) Electronic subscription: Drivers can register on the viaTOLL website and purchase an electronic subscription, which makes it possible to pay tolls directly from a bank account.
